NCC selects Lamont Peters as the 2022 Academic Excellence recipient

Lamont Peters of Tarboro has been selected as Nash Community College’s 2022 Academic Excellence Award recipient.

A culinary arts degree student, Peters has a 3.81 cumulative grade point average.

“When I first attended Nash Community College 13 years ago, it was the best option for what I wanted to do at that time, Peters said. “It was the positive experiences I had then that brought me back when I decided to begin a new career.”

As the recipient of NCC’s highest academic honor, Peters will represent the College among North Carolina’s 58-community college system. Each student selected for the award receives a plaque and medallion in honor of their academic accomplishments.

“What impresses me most about NCC is the culture of warmth and kindness,” Peters said. “I’m a mature student today, but the socially awkward, skinny kid I was decades ago really could have benefited from the extra guidance Nash offers to all students and the resources they have to assist students both academically and personally.”
