Students Complete Firefighter Certification

Nash Community College recognized five students for completing a firefighter certification series at a ceremony held at the NCC Continuing Education and Public Services Building on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. The course met four nights each week and one weekend a month from August 1, 2022 through January 8, 2023. Congratulations to Tyler Curlings, Dustin Hales, Mark Letchworth, Skyler Proctor and Todd Wells who are now fully certified as Level 2 Firefighters with the State of North Carolina.

The course teaches communications, firefighter health and safety, personal protective equipment, building construction, tools and forcible entry, ladders and ventilation. In addition, these students completed instruction in the areas of ropes and knots, search and rescue, operations, safety initiatives, hazardous materials, survival, traffic management, and other topics. Upon completion they are prepared to enter the fire service as career firefighters.
