Nash Community College Board of Trustees Attend NCACCT Leadership Seminar
Nash Community College Board of Trustees members: Vice Chair Russell Proctor, III, Natalie Brooks, Sam Dickens, III, Sonny Foster, Angela Gailliard and Paul Jaber, along with President Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, recently attended the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees (NCACCT) Leadership Seminar.
The NCACCT Leadership Seminar is the premier event for community college leaders across North Carolina, bringing together over 300 trustees and college leaders to discuss the vital role of trustees in today’s rapidly changing higher education landscape. This year’s seminar focused on state-mandated training for new and reappointed trustees, with sessions tailored to enhance governance and policy practices.
Key topics included strategies for collaborating with college presidents to support student success, navigating legal issues affecting community colleges, and analyzing economic trends that influence enrollment goals. The seminar also provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing trustees to connect with fellow leaders, including college presidents and members of the State Board of Community Colleges.
Dr. Hunnicutt emphasized the importance of the event, “The NCACCT Leadership Seminar not only strengthens the skills of our trustees but also reinforces our collective commitment to student success. By collaborating and sharing best practices, we ensure that NCC remains a leader in providing quality education and support to our community.”
The participation of NCC’s Board of Trustees in this important seminar underscores their commitment to enhancing the educational experience for students and ensuring effective leadership within the college.
