Nash Community College Celebrates 57th Founders Day Anniversary
Nash Community College is proud to announce the celebration of its 57th Founders Day Anniversary, marking nearly six decades of educational excellence and community impact. The college opened its doors on Sep. 7, 1967, and has grown from a small local institution into the vital comprehensive community college for Nash County and the region, serving thousands of students each year with a diverse range of programs and services.
The college served over 20,000 students last academic year and has recently marked significant headcount growth of 11.5 percent for the Fall 2024 semester.
Throughout its history, NCC has achieved numerous milestones, including expanding its academic offerings, developing state-of-the-art facilities and committing to community engagement. Notable accomplishments include launching innovative health sciences, technology and continuing education programs and significant partnerships with local businesses and organizations that enhance student learning and career opportunities.
The President’s Office will host a festive event for students, staff and faculty to commemorate this significant occasion. As a token of appreciation, cupcakes (and a healthy alternative) will be distributed around campus to celebrate the college’s birthday.
“We are excited to celebrate 57 years of service to our students, Nash County, and the region,” said Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, president of NCC. “Founders Day is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our achievements, honor our dedicated staff and faculty, and celebrate with the students who are at the heart of our mission.”
All members of the NCC family are encouraged to join in the celebration and enjoy the festivities.
