NCC Student Nurses Purchase Air Conditioner for Patient

Nash Community College second year Nursing students have taken patient care to a new level. During a recent home visit for their Nash County Health Department clinical rotation, they met a patient whose family had no air conditioning in their home. “The students chose to use NCC Student Nursing Association funds to purchase a window air conditioning unit for the family. Their funds allowed them to purchase two additional units in case the need arises again,” NCC Nursing Instructor Tina Treish said. “Sometimes in order to meet the medical needs of a patient, we must first address more basic needs to ensure a better outcome. This act of kindness is reflective of our students’ desire to treat the whole patient.” In addition to using money collected through membership fees and fundraisers, students donated personal items including a crib and changing table.
