Fallen Linemen Foundation Scholarship Awarded to NCC Graduate

DSC_0112Nash Community College Electric Line Construction Academy Graduate Tyler Brown of Pink Hill, NC is a recipient of a Fallen Linemen Foundation Scholarship. The Fallen Linemen Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Kevin Dyson and Barry Jones and is dedicated to providing support to electric linemen and their families by annually awarding scholarships to North Carolina community college students. Tyler is the first recipient from Nash to receive this distinguished scholarship. He is employed with Duke Energy as a Distribution, Line, and Service Technician.

“As a student in 2015, Tyler showed great diligence in all aspects of NCC’s electric line construction program. He always expected high performance of himself and his commitment to the program was evident,” NCC Line Construction Instructor Craig Batchelor said. NCC’s rigorous program emphasizes training and teamwork in every aspect while preparing students for the demands of the field through hands-on training, electrical theory, math and communication studies, power generation, transmission and distribution concepts, and pole climbing.
