NCC Students Place at National SkillsUSA Competition

NCC students competed recently at the 52nd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, KY – a showcase of career and technical education students. More than 16,000 people, including students, faculty and industry leaders, participated in the week-long event.

Seventh in U.S. for CNC Milling
Competing for the NCC Computer-Integrated Machining program, student Bennett Satterwhite placed first in North Carolina earlier this year in the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling category. Satterwhite ranked seventh in the nation for the same category. Michaela Lamm took fourth place in North Carolina proving her abilities in writing a CNC program; and student Jacob Sandy placed fifth in North Carolina for CNC Turning.
Nineteenth in U.S. for Cosmetology
NCC’s Cosmetology students participated in the state competition for their first time and brought home first place for the category. NCC student Nikki Price ranked first in Cosmetology for North Carolina and nineteenth in the nation for the same category. NCC Cosmetology student Desirae Williams came in third place in Fantasy Hair and Makeup for North Carolina, with NCC placing first in cosmetology overall for the state.

Thirty-third in U.S. for Welding
NCC Welding student Mitchell Harrell placed first overall in the North Carolina SkillsUSA Welding competition and thirty-third at the national competition. NCC was awarded first place for Welding at the North Carolina competition.
