NCC President Attends Herring Lecture

Nash Community College president Dr. Bill Carver, pictured right, attended the 2017 Dallas Herring Lecture held October 3 at North Carolina State University’s College of Education Friday Institution for Educational Innovation. Carver is a member of the NCSU Envisioning Excellence Advisory Board which consists of current and former community college presidents, non-profit leaders whose work supports community colleges, and community college system leaders. The Board’s expertise helps steer NC State’s redesigned community college leadership development programs, helping direct university faculty and partners to address the most pressing issues facing North Carolina community colleges.

At the event, Dr. Eduardo Padrón, left, delivered the 2017 Dallas Herring Lecture titled “Growing Inequality and Declining Economic Mobility, the Twin Challenges of Our Time: What Leaders of Higher Education Can Do.” Padrón is recipient of the 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom, and president of the largest institution of higher education in the country, Miami Dade College.
