NCC Celebrates Career & Technical Education

Nash Community College celebrated SkillsUSA Week the week of February 5th by promoting programs and hosting activities to promote awareness of the organization and members. NCC President Dr. Bill Carver visited with students during SkillsUSA Member Outreach Day held at Midway Cafe Monday, February 5, 2018.

Nash Community College’s SkillsUSA chapter was chartered during the Spring 2017 Semester signifying the partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to promote a highly skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, leadership opportunities, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE). Students enrolled in Welding, Industrial Systems Technology, Cosmetology, Medical Assisting, Computer-Integrated Machining, Culinary Arts, and Criminal Justice programs are invited to be part of Nash Community College’s chapter.

Other SkillsUSA Week activities included professional development for faculty interested in integrating the SkillsUSA framework in the classroom, Advisor Appreciation Day, SkillsUSA Advocacy Day, a Scavenger Hunt and a “Support SkillsUSA” Day.

Involvement in these activities brings positive recognition and underscores the emphasis of helping prepare America’s high performance workers in public career and technical programs.
