[Ceremony Postponed] NCC Announces 2020 Nurses Pinning Speaker

Dr. Lori Byrd, Associate Director, Academic Program-Health Sciences for the North Carolina Community College System, will be the guest speaker for Nash Community College’s 2020 Nurses Pinning Ceremony. In her role, Dr. Byrd provides support and advocacy for Allied Health and Nursing Programs for North Carolina’s 58 community colleges.

The Nash Community College Associate Degree Nursing graduate pinning ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 7:30 PM in the NCC Brown Auditorium. This time-honored tradition connects past nursing traditions with today’s healthcare professionals.  Nash Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam.

Dr. Byrd began her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She became a registered nurse at Wake Medical Center and later worked at Wilson Medical Center. She served as faculty at Campbell University, Barton College and Walden University. Prior to working at the System Office, Dr. Byrd was a Nursing Administrative Coordinator and House Supervisor for UNC Johnston Health.

Dr. Byrd graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Johnston Community College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Atlantic Christian College; a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Walden University; and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from Union University.
