NCC Fall Classes Begin August 17, 2020

For 53 years, Nash Community College has provided an educational environment meeting students where they are and preparing them for a successful future. Even though campus operations look different right now, NCC’s commitment to quality instruction and student-focused support services continues. The college is open, operating and enrolling students in what is sure to be one of the most determined and resilient classes in Nighthawk history. Fall semester classes begin August 17 in on-campus, online, virtual and in hybrid formats. Schedule changes may be made through August 20. Select programs have resumed on-campus classes with safety practices in place. These programs include Automotive Systems Technology, Computer-Engineering Technology, Computer-Integrated Machining, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice Technology, Culinary Arts, Electrical Systems Technology, Electronics Engineering Technologies, Emergency Medical Sciences, Industrial Systems Technologies, Welding Technologies, and other programs. Online courses provide another option that is ideal for students who wish to work remotely, at their own pace, without set meeting times. The flexible online format may be a great option for parents who are assisting young students with online learning, university students who do not feel comfortable returning to campus but want to earn transferable course credit, or individuals balancing work, school and other commitments. Virtual courses mirror face-to-face instruction by connecting students with instructors online, in real-time, providing the closest experience to actually being on campus. Students who enroll in virtual courses can expect to have interaction with instructors and students, collaboration with other students in a virtual space, real-time group discussion and an enhanced sense of community with classmates and instructors. Hybrid courses are delivered in a combination of on-campus, online and/or virtual meetings. Virtual and online classes require access to a computer with reliable internet access. On-campus computer labs are open with social distancing and safety practices in place. Team Nash is working diligently to provide a productive academic experience despite the current challenges. Extra measures are in place to help students navigate learning during the pandemic including increased access to support services such as academic advising, tutoring and free clinical counseling. The Advising Center, located in the NCC Library, is available to assist students with course selection, fall registration and academic advising.
