COVID-19 Updates, Press Releases

COVID-19 Update: Monday, May 17, 2021

On Friday, May 14, 2021 Governor Roy Cooper announced the following changes were in place for North Carolina with limited exceptions:

  • No statewide mask (face covering) mandate
  • No mandatory mass gathering limits
  • No mandatory capacity limits
  • No mandatory social distancing requirements

Effective Monday, May 17, 2021, Nash Community College ceased imposing any additional restrictions beyond those in Executive Order 215. Face coverings and other social distancing protocols, while still encouraged for unvaccinated people, were no longer required.

Employees and students are welcome to continue to wear face coverings. Please keep in mind that individuals should not be asked to disclose their vaccination status or why they are wearing a face covering. This is private information and should be respected at all times.

Our employees and students make their own decisions about how to continue to protect themselves on and off campus. If you meet with a student or fellow employee in a small space, such as a private office, be mindful that they may request to meet in an alternate location that allows more distance.

If you are feeling sick for any reason, please do not come to campus. Students should inform their instructors, and employees their supervisor, of the illness.

If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, or you have been tested or diagnosed, please follow the COVID-19 Campus Exposure Procedure.
