NCC Selected as Aviso Aspire Merit Award Winner

Nash Community College is one of five colleges in the United States to be selected as an Aviso Aspire Merit Award Winner.

Aviso provides student success solutions to NCC which aid in student retention and engagement by supporting students who face barriers to higher education.

Colleges are selected for the award based on their commitment to equity and student success on their campuses and in their communities.

The award honors both Aviso’s and the college’s commitment to student success and dedication to equity in education with the award of a $250 donation to be used to assist students in their success and progression of their educational goals.

Nash Community College has partnered with Aviso since 2019 and currently leverages Aviso Engage, Aviso Student Mobile App, Predictive Modeling – and is part of the Minority Male Success Initiative three-year research program.

The College has demonstrated its commitment to supporting all students in a variety of ways including the development of a Strategic DEI Plan which creates a variety of internal assessments and strategies to provide outreach and support for programs that align to meet needs and to overcome barriers.

NCC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion statement confirms the college’s commitment stating the college strives to be the institution of choice for everyone. NCC’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion encompasses the differences of students, staff, faculty and community partners. Through policies and practices that address barriers to access and participation, NCC is committed to recognizing the value of all people.

Additionally, NCC’s Student Wellness Center services provide holistic supports including clinical, Single Stop screening for Medicaid, SNAP, childcare assistance, financial counseling, legal referrals, tax prep access.  In addition, the Blue Love fund helps provide basic needs assistance with food, professional attire, emergency transportation, utility disconnection and eviction support, tuition and book support, and on-campus assistance. Success and Career Coaching services and tutoring services strengthen the educational experience and meet varied student needs.

Utilizing Aviso technology, NCC also provides targeted outreach and strategic support to students who live within the most underserved and underperforming areas.
