Donor supports students’ needs beyond the classroom
The Nash Community College Foundation has announced recent gifts from a longtime friend of the college, Steve Felton, of Rocky Mount.
Felton, a local entrepreneur, studied Business Administration at Nash Technical College from 1981 until 1983.

He quickly found his place, grew as a leader in the Phi Beta Lambda Business Organization and later was named Who’s Who in American Community and Junior Colleges.
Felton’s recent gifts support the enhancement of campus with the installation of a glider at a high-traffic location for students and visitors to enjoy for many years to come.

Additionally, the donation of a freezer for the campus food pantry furthers his commitment to helping meet students’ needs beyond the classroom. “I want to be a good steward because many students need assistance,” he said. “I remember when I went to school, times were tight for me.”

NCC’s food pantry opened in 2014 to address student food insecurities. Until recently, the pantry only provided non-perishable food items.
Felton also was instrumental in the establishment of the Blue Love Fund to assist students with needs beyond tuition and he continues to provide support and advocate for its efforts.
In 2005, Felton joined the NCC Foundation Board of Directors and along with his family established the Steven D. Felton Business Scholarship Fund. Samantha Clagg of Bailey, an Associate in Science major, and Mya Langston, a Business Administration major, from Battleboro, are the 2021-2022 recipients.
Steve Felton was the recipient of the NCC Outstanding Alumnus award in 2013 and currently serves on the NCC Foundation Board of Directors.
