Students Complete NCC Drone Pilot Course

The Nash Community College Continuing Education Department recently held an FAA Part 107 drone pilot course. The training prepares students for commercial drone operation and is a Federal Aviation Commission-required certification for individuals to legally offer professional drone services.

Participants were from Rocky Mount Fire Department, Nashville Fire Department, Rocky Mount Police Department, Nashville Police Department, Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Nash County Emergency Services, Williamston Fire Department, NC Civil Air Patrol, NC Office of State Fire Marshal, and NC Emergency Management.

These agencies may utilize drone technology for reconnaissance, search and rescue, monitoring, investigation and damage and situational assessment. Upon completion of the class, students may take the certification test.
