Okonite Cable Company Donates to Nash Community College Electric Line Program

Nash Community College Electric Line Construction Technology Program recently received a generous donation from the Okonite Cable Company.

The company donated a reel underground power distribution cable that would cost $1,800. More importantly, it is even harder to obtain this material due to current world supply chain issues.

“Like anything, we are always excited about opportunities to expand our student’s knowledge and receive essential resources that contribute to the overall success of the students who participate in this program,” said Jon O’Boyle, Electric Line Technology Instructor.

Underground cables are designed to be buried underground, most commonly used in areas where overhead power lines are not feasible or desirable. The cable is also protected from physical damage and environmental elements, making it a safe and reliable option for electrical distribution.

Mike Pardue, District Manager with Okonite Cable Company, delivered the cable. He also gave the program students some history and demonstrations on how the cable should be used and provided lunch and swag bags.
