Nash Community College Record-Breaking Enrollment

Nash Community College served its largest student headcount in college history during the 2022-2023 academic year at 16,007.

The previous largest NCC enrollment was pre-COVID during the 2019-2020 academic year at 14,868. The 16,007 during the 2022-2023 academic year is an increase of 1,139 students served or 7.38%.

“This is truly remarkable and credit to all the hard work of Team Nash because we have managed to showcase growth in the number of students we were able to serve from pre-pandemic for the better, which is a huge achievement,” said Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, president at NCC.

The most significant increase was seen in Continuing Education programs, which served nearly 9,000 students.

As the college settles into the Fall semester, one example of growth is the Electric Line Construction Academy, seeing its largest class of 58. In the last five years, there has been a 95–100% graduation rate for all students who complete the 16-week Academy.

“We are extremely proud of our Electric Linemen,” said Melanie Driver, coordinator of electric line programs at NCC. “Our instructors work hard and provide good quality instruction to help them succeed in the field, and all our students always work hard. The best part is that almost in all cases, a graduate has typically secured a job with one of our various partners before they finish.”

NCC anticipates continued growth in the 2024-2025 academic year.
