Nash Community College Announces 2024-25 Student Ambassadors

Nash Community College has announced five ambassadors to serve for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Student ambassadors represent NCC by promoting a positive image, interacting with campus stakeholders and supporting NCC foundation efforts. They lead campus tours, serve as hosts for campus activities and participate in student recruitment by advocating for NCC and sharing their stories.
Demone Frazier (18), Joe Anna Choplin (22), Jacob Smith (27), Jamion Johnson (18) and Jenna Evans (19) were each selected after going through an application and interview process through a committee.
Frazier is a current senior at Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School. Through this program, students can take dual credit courses for both high school diploma and NCC degree requirements to graduate with a diploma and applicable associate degree at the end of their high school journey. He plans to graduate next year with an Associates Degree of Arts and transfer to a four-year university to pursue political science and attend law school. Frazier would eventually like to work in United States legislation. Notably, he was appointed as Page for both chambers of the North Carolina General Assembly and also received the opportunity to serve as Page for Governor Roy Cooper.
Choplin is currently a full-time Marketing & Timber Coordinator for a local forestry business. She is pursuing her Associate Degree of Arts from NCC with the plan to transfer to a four-year university for a business and marketing degree. She is passionate about digital and traditional marketing and sales opportunities.
Smith works full-time as mechanical assistant at a local maintenance services company. He is pursuing a degree in broadcast and production technology at NCC and hopes to move out of the machining/fabrication industry and into the field of film production. He has family ties to NCC as his mother graduated with her nursing degree shortly after he was born.
Johnson is also a current senior at Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School while pursuing an Associate Degree of Science with the plans to transfer to a four-year university and, then ultimately, medical school to practice dermatology. He was honored as the 11th Grade Scholar for his high school and was selected to participate in the Summer Ventures program at the NC School of Science and Math. Johnson was a participant in the NC Governor’s School.
Evans is pursuing an Associate Degree of Arts in Graphic Design. She plans to transfer to a four-year institution to continue her studies after graduation. She has also earned the Benvenue Scholarship and Blue Love Scholarship from NCC. Last year, Evans served as a marketing and graphic design intern for NCC’s Marketing/PR department.
Ambassadors receive a $2,000 scholarship from the NCC Foundation and are expected to complete at least 20 service hours (per semester) at the college. Ambassadors also serve as Marshalls for the annual commencement ceremony.
