Nash Community College Welcomes Fall Student Enrollment Growth!
Nash Community College has continued to make strides to return to pre-COVID-19 numbers. NCC is excited to announce a significant growth of an 11.5 percent increase in headcount and a 10.5 percent increase in FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) student enrollment for the Fall 2024 semester compared to Fall 2023!
“We have five core values, and the first one is “student success.” The entire team has worked tirelessly from marketing to student services through to our academic affairs team to provide varying options that meet the needs of our students,” said Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, president of NCC. “We are still enrolling and serving students, so we hope to grow even more.”
The college has particularly seen growth in Medical Sonography (91.3 percent), Electrical Systems Technology (59.1 percent), Welding Technology (46.5 percent), Cosmetology (31.1 percent), Early Childhood Education (26.4 percent), Associate Degree of Nursing (22.1 percent) programs from last fall. The campus Hispanic population continues to grow, with an increase of 11.4 percent, which matches a trend throughout the county. Last year, NCC hired a dedicate Community Engagement and Latino Programs Coordinator to support the growing population. NCC is experiencing a 14.5 percent increase with adult learners (25-44).
“As noted, student success is a priority, and that stems from teamwork and intentional collaboration,” said Dr. Levy Brown, vice president of student services at NCC. “Students want to receive their education at an institution where they feel supported holistically both inside and outside of the classroom. At NCC, our nationally recognized ‘Blue Love’ culture speaks volumes to our commitment to overall student success. I am excited about the collaborative strategic enrollment management efforts that will continue to help us educate more citizens within our service area and beyond. Further, we are excited about the future outlook and growth potential.”
Last academic year, NCC served over 20,000 students through curriculum and continuing education programs.
Yesterday, members of the Student Government Association sponsored a ‘Welcome Back Bash!’ event with Battle Balls, Create-a-Critter, Build a Terrarium and Monogrammed Water Bottle, providing a fun atmosphere and the true ‘Blue Love’ spirit for the hundreds of students that attended as they join the Nighthawk family.
The college still has various ‘Flex Start’ course offerings open for 14-week and eight-week semesters that can accommodate flexible schedules and provide a range of exciting courses to gain new skills and reach their goals faster. The upcoming August 29 and October 16 start dates are fast approaching.
